AP Studio Art – 2D Design & Drawing
Departmental recommendation: Successful completion of at least two of the following courses: Drawing 1, Drawing 2, Painting 1, Painting 2: an A in art courses taken at Standard level, or a B in art courses taken at the Honors level. Students are expected to submit a portfolio for the AP Studio Art Exam.
AP Studio Art is for serious art students and especially for those interested in pursuing art in college. It is an advanced level course. Students must complete summer assignments prior to entrance to the course in the fall. Homework is assigned on a weekly basis. Students are expected to work independently in addition to class time, to prepare work for their portfolios. Juniors may develop a portfolio for college applications and for AP credit. Seniors are expected to submit their portfolios to the College Board for AP credit.
The work done in the course will reflect three major concerns and constants in AP Art:
